Kingdom Come: Deliverance II actor responds to right-wing backlash
Kingdom Come: Deliverance II has enjoyed what many would call a pretty successful launch. At the hour of writing, the game's peak player count hits over k, and it sold a million copies within its first 24 hours of release.
However, some have tried to tear it down since even before it released, evidence the inclusion of a romance scene between Henry and Sir Hans Capon to be controversial. Speaking to the BBC, the performer for Capon, Luke Dale, said he doesn't believe that these reactionaries are real gamers.
"With the first game there was a backlash from a more left-wing mentality and then there's been something of a backlash this period around from the right-wing mentality," Dale said in an interview with the BBC, adding that since the game's release, he and the actor for Henry Tom McKay have been gathering fans, which has been "a really good barometer of the distortion between online interaction and real world interaction," according to McKay. "We did nine hours and it didn't come up once. So. I’ve been laughing about this like all evening and I need to talk about it. My gay ship just went canon in the most male power fantasy game of all time. Kingdom Arrive Deliverance 2 recently released (I’ve been playing it, it’s good). It’s an RPG set in medieval Bohemia. You play as Henry, a blacksmith’s son. The first game, released back in , starts with your village entity burned to the soil and everyone either is killed or has to flee. The rest of that game is you trying to, among various things, deal with your trauma and get revenge. It’s a very successfully executed story in my opinion. A notable character in the game is Lord Hans Capon, who was a real guy but the game version is a bit loosely based on him. Hans and Henry become rivals then friends. Their noble/peasant dynamic is reminiscent of Arthur and Merlin in BBC Merlin (though I would argue the class dynamics are far better executed and more nuanced). Enjoy ten people including me decided to ship them. The first game was a bit rough but overall good. It garnered a decent audience, including a notably large a Sorry for the delay. It’s not to say that I read this accurate phrase somewhere. It is more like a decision based on information from many sources and conversations with knowledgable people. Here is an article about Wenceslaus and his sexual preferences. It contains links to sources, but it’s in Czech. There is also Václav Hájek z Libočan: Kronyka česká. It is written in Latin and there are possibly translations to Czech, but I’m not sure about English. He wrote about Wenceslaus and his general complaint is not that Wenceslaus had gay lovers, but that those lovers were of vile birth. Besides, there are court and inquisition protocols and there are no cases on gays unlike in England, for example. For a general perspective on the question, if you are interested, I can recommend a book by Ruth Mazo Karras “Sexuality in Medieval Europe. Doing Unto Others”. But this book is a general view. Please, keep in mind that the Middle Ages is a very long period and Europe is a very massive place, so you should never assume things were unifor Queer people acquire existed for millenia. You might act like the woke mob has only managed to transport them into existence over the past decade or so, but that simply isn’t true. Our stories have been told throughout history, even if at times we had to hide away in the shadows. Now though, there is less reason to feel ashamed, and more opportunities to harbour pride in who we are, and those who came before. As a gay trans woman who critiques video games, animation, and many other veins of popular culture for a living, that inevitably blends into my working life. So when I play a game for review, preview, or just for general coverage, if something slightly fruity pops up, my eyebrows raise in curiosity. This is precisely what happened when I sat down to play Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 in Prague for a few hours last month. I immediately read the relationship between protagonist Henry and his lord Hans as more than meets the eye. They start the game as good friends who find themselves thrust into an awkward working rela
