The Sims () – From the very first game, Sims could engage in same-sex relationships without restrictions.
Fable () – Allowed players to romance and partner NPCs of the alike gender.
Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines () – Included bisexual and same-sex relationship options depending on player choices.
Temple of Elemental Corrupt () – Featured a side quest where male characters could marry another man.
Ultima VII: The Ebony Gate () – Contained subtle references to queer relationships.
Final Fantasy VII () – Cloud could move on a date with Barret, a rare example of a same-sex lovey-dovey interaction in a major RPG at the time.
Yeah, I’m sure they checked a diversity box with that one black dude and threw in the bare minimum for advocacy. But let’s be honest—they barely put in the effort to make it meaningful.

It&#;s been an excellent game for video games in , especially those with LGBTQ+ characters, creators, and/or themes.
As the years own passed, more and more video game developers are getting wise to the straightforward idea that the more inclusive and welcoming your video game is, the more people long to play it. I know what you&#;re thinking: it may seem noticeable, and even downright uncomplicated, that would be the case. But considering that we&#;re also living in an era where Gay laws are being ripped away like chemical strippers do to varnish, gender non-conforming stories still remain as important as ever.
With so much quality to peruse throughout , the marvelous Ty Galiz-Rowe and I have taken it upon ourselves to do the monumental work of listing which LGBTQ+ video games from this year stood out and why they, if they aren&#;t there already, deserve a place on your holiday gaming wish list.
