The licensee of shuttered Hobart LGBTIQ+ venue Flamingos Twirl Bar is still in a &#;beyond desperate&#; hunt for a new house for the long-running homosexual bar.
First open in , Flamingos Dance Bar was Tasmania’s only permanent LGBTIQ+ community venue for 18 years.
The gay bar reopened in July following Covid pandemic lockdowns. However just a few months later, Flamingos had to advance out after its longtime home at Liverpool Avenue in Hobart sold in October
“Ever since closing, we&#;ve been contacted on a weekly basis by locals and tourists alike,&#; Flamingos licensee Gary Quilliam told the Mercury.
&#;[They&#;re] searching for a safe room in Hobart to trap up with other like-minded people for a cocktail and to socialise.
“To the best of my truth, Hobart is the only capital city in Australia with no dedicated LGBTIQ+ bar or club.
Quilliam described the search for a new home as &#;beyond desperate, it&#;s embarassing&#;.
“Despite our best effort to go out searching for a suitable venue, the options are very limited,&#; he said.

Home Base have a pride group called Queerspace leading ideas for creating safe spaces and coaching, rainbow stickers in all our offices, staff wear pride lanyards and possess pronoun badges, and development has been delivered to the whole organis
The Gay Outdoors Club provide a wide range of outdoor and indoor sports and recreational activities for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender men and women. They host approximately events each year!
Most events are one day,but they also organise weekend and longer events such as hosteling weekends, arctic adventures and ivory water rafting expeditions!
